September is the heart of our Rainy season, and we have had some really heavy downpours. We are not affected much here in Bangkruai, but in some provinces and in districts of Bangkok the local flooding has been disastrous. The TV news shows the amazing extent of the chaos. Streets and canals are overflowing in certain areas.
It reminds me of our neighborhood chaos during the Great Flood of 2011, which was a much larger flood in extent because it was the entire drainage of the great Chao Phraya River, which overflowed it's banks. (My descriptions of that epic are recorded below, starting in mid-October 2011.)
Our western bank of the river has not been affected as much as the eastern Bangkok side. The river is not high, nor are our canals. Today I rode the elevated train several miles south for grocery shopping, and everything was dry along the line.
But still, before going out I must choose carefully from my extensive arsenal of umbrellas.
